Soy Gel
Soy Gel by Franmar is a low odor, neutral pH, bio-degradable, highly effective paint stripper made from soy beans. In the project described on “Mechanical Room Floor Repair & Coating” it was very effective in stripping the paint off a mechanical room floor so that cracks in it could be closed with polyurethane / polyurea crack repair material and so that it could be sealed with an epoxy coating. The space was closed and adjacent to another closed and occupied room so products that would have fouled the air were not viable. Soy Gel has virtually no odor. A few points on how to handle the product are offered in the report and another product, “Emerge Degreaser”, by Franmar is recommended to help remove the residue and waste that remains after the Soy Gel has finished acting on the paint.
